19th July 2007
Dear Mr Burrell
On behalf of Andrew Marvell Business and Enterprise College I would like to thank you and your team for all your efforts in ensuring that our College Gym was carpeted and ready to accommodate Bude Park Primary School.
Bude Park Primary School was severely affected by the June 2007 extreme weather conditions and had to close two weeks before the end of the Summer Term. To help the families of pupils that attend Bude Park and ensure that the pupils were still receiving and education, Andrew Marvell College made arrangements to accommodate the school until the end of term.
Without the help of CB Solutions Andrew Marvell Business & Enterprise College would not have been able to protect its flooring and provide the staff and pupils of Bude Park with a comfortable working environment.
Once again, many thanks for all your help and support.
Yours sincerely
Dave McCready

My Ref. EPS/HHS/PII/FNW/CBS 28th February 2007
To whom it may concern,
CB Solutions, were initially selected from the BWF / Warrington Fire brochures off the internet that highlighted approved manufacturers and specialist installers of Fire Doors.
As a sub-contractor via a Principal Contractor, CB Solutions were quick to repsond to the queries and prices requested by via the Principal Contractor. A detailed site survey was shortly carried out as soon as the instruction to proceed was given.
The proposed works entailed modification to existing doors, frames, fanlights and installation of new Doorsets throughout the Secondary School over the February half term holidays inclusive of the opening and closing weekends, due to the volume of works required. Staff employed by CB Solutions were professional, accommodating, courteous and competent on site, and were aware of Health and Safety requirements / procedures involved.
Should you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Yours sincerely

Ref. Refurbishment
19th February 2007
Dear Sirs
I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of Troup House School to thank you for the most excellent service and high quality of workmanship your company provided for us.
We were really facing a struggle for our refurbishment project to be completed on time, as the installed fire doorsets were an incorrect specification and the required FD60 certified doorsets could not be obtained locally within the required time scale.
However I had not appreciated the speed and professional approach of your company.
If I recall, the sequence of events were as follows:
I contacted your office on the Saturday
Emailed photographs of the locations and sizes of doors required on Sunday afternoon
Quotation received from CB Solutions Monday morning, and accepted by Troup House School
CB Solutions drive approximately 300 miles to Banffshire and supply and fit doors
Fire doorsets completed Thursday evening
CB Solutions drive back to Yorkshire on Friday morning
Certificate of Conformity viewed online that Friday
A total of 6 days from start to finish. Fantastic!.
Your company had a wonderful positive approach to our problem, totally client focused. The tradesmen who carried out the work were highly skilled, highly motivated and extremely courteous.
Thank you once again,
Yours faithfully,
Eddie Arrowsmith (Director) |

Dear Sir Re: Jewish Children’s Centre (Procurement of Doors and Windows)
In November 2005 Gateshead Borough Council selected Acrol Modular Buildings Limited as there preferred contractor to procure the Design and Construction of a Transportable Modular Building for there SureStart project at the Jewish Children’s Centre, Gateshead.
During the project briefing process the project architect and client responsible for funding the project were clear in there selection and specification of materials insisting on “Fit for Purpose” criteria being quality and robust products.
The client also insisted that the project timescale was critical to the success of the delivery being “On Time” and “On Budget”.
In August 2006 the project was delivered to site in accordance with the programmed timescale. Practical Completion was achieved in complete accordance with the programmed target dates.
I can confirm the project was well received by the architect, client and end users of the building.
Your co-operation during the procurement of doors and windows must be acknowledged. Your timely delivery and attention to quality detail played an important part in the success of this project. I can inform you that the end users of the building all remarked on the quality standards of Doors and Windows.
Furthermore I am pleased to inform you that we have been commissioned by Newcastle City Council as their Preferred Contractor for future SureStart projects expected this coming year. The clients and Designers from Newcastle City Council have visited the Jewish Children’s Centre and have noted and remarked on the quality of door and window products used on the project.
Yours Faithfully

Salcey Treetop Walk – Completed Jan 2006 – Cost £700,000
Forestry Civil Engineering (FCE) specialises in countryside structures of which bridges have been the main focus. However when this government put the health of the nation at the centre of its policies FCE used its skills to design a spectacular walk on high towers through a mature woodland. It is suitable for all abilities, provides a unique experience for all ages and has already attracted thousands of people into the fresh air. The structural concept is innovative, some is based on new UK research, it uses sustainable materials including timber to provide an engineered environmental harmony. It was completed on time and within budget allowing the contingency to be used to build a spectacular entrance bridge.
Timber is ultimately the most sustainable construction material but fast growing plantation timber comes in small sections which are difficult to utilise in large structures. The designer used Mechanical Stress Lamination to demonstrate an innovative way of doing this by building a timber arch bridge and the first Stress Laminated Timber (SLT) roof in the UK.
The walkway starts at ground level and rises to 15m above the ground via a number of 24m span bridges at a 1 in 12 slope. These spans are made from, off the shelf aerial mast towers, to form bridge beams - a structure patented by the designer many years before. This span structure has a fundamental natural frequency of 2.8Hz which provides an eventful shaky walk loved by children. The top tower has a platform at 20m which is accessed by an external stair. This adds to the fear factor!
The 1 in 12 slopes, 24m long, are well within the capabilities of all wheelchair users interviewed so far. However excellent grip is necessary especially when the decking can have a covering of leaves and pine needles. This hazard was designed out by specifying 'Aggredeck' by CB Solutions. This is a timber deck product with a non slip insert made from resin and bauxite chippings. This material looks rural in sawn timber, is the same colour as the other timbers and works.
The structure is in a Forestry Commission forest (Salcey) near Northampton and was financed by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister. The architectural and engineering design was carried out by the in-house business unit, FCE, acting as an external consultant and paid by the outside funder. The client is effectively the Forest District Manager. The design brief was very loose in that it called for a treetop experience and the funds were limited to £700,000 including fees.
The forest is a Site of Special Scientific Interest with unique Crested Newts. The site is littered with archaeological remains including very important "wood banks". None of these special features could be damaged in any way without extreme consequences. The contract documents had to take all of these factors into account, sensibly, so as not to increase cost unnecessarily.
The walkway has a spectacular entrance over the Elephant bridge so named because it curves around and over a pond built during the 2 nd World War for zoo elephants borrowed to haul timber as part of the war effort. The bridge has a 30m clear span and is hung from 20mm diameter ropes all suspended from one mast and has 'Aggredeck' boarding. This bridge was built for a little over £50,000 and was designed and constructed in two months.
This innovative structure has become a local attraction and is available to the public, free of charge, 365 days a year. It is bound to help improve the health of the nation.

Dear Chris
Re: Extension Forward Holding Lounge, Birmingham International Airport
Further to the problems encountered on site due to the fire protection to the under drawing of the floor construction and the completion date to be achieved to enable the building to be examined prior to the arrival of Bill Clinton (President of USA), we would like to take this opportunity to thank you and your personnel in achieving the required date at such short notice and for the efforts made during very lengthy working periods.
We would also like you to forward our thanks on to your suppliers for the procuring and arranging the delivery and collection of the Supaflex Fire Protection board and we fully appreciate their efforts during Wednesday evening.
Once again thanks to all for their super human efforts,
Regards
A G Stevenson

Dear Chris
I am in receipt of a letter from Shirley Smith on behalf of Oaklands School and attach a copy for your perusal.
What excellent, refreshing reading it makes, Chris. We obviously had a good team working on this contract and on projects such as schools, we have to respect their day to day working environment whilst we are constructing. This, I am happy to learn, we have very evidently done, judging by their kind comments.
I would like to thank you for your understanding of their situation and for your hard work and commitment during the building and especially in view of the adverse weather conditions. This surely is yet another example of a highly delighted customer.
With kind regards
Yours sincerely,
for and on behalf of AAF Industries Plc
